CF4L:Push-Ups

Posted by

Here is an awesome article from Chicago Fit For Life’s own, Siddiqu Muhammad on the benefit of push-ups for both men as well as women.

Push-Ups

The push up may just be the perfect total body exercise that builds both upper body and core strength. Done properly, it is a compound exercise that uses muscles in the chest, shoulders, triceps, back, abs and even the legs. Working all those muscles at once burns lots of calories and will even give your metabolism a boost.

Benefits of Push-ups. Push-ups are a closed kinetic chain exercise. Unlike the Bench Press, your hands are fixed while your body moves through space.

  • Build Muscle. Just like Pull ups and Dips, Push-ups force you to lift your own body-weight. Push-ups work your chest, shoulders, triceps & core.
  • Shoulder Health. Push-ups improve shoulder health by strengthening your serratus anterior. They also teach you to Bench Press correctly.
  • Versatile. You can do Push-ups anywhere, anytime. Harder Push-up variations keep things challenging for constant progress

Push-Ups for Woman

Women start wearing purses as early as 12 years of age.  And over the years purses have gotten bigger and bigger.  This puts a lot of strain on the shoulders of women.  Push-ups can help strengthen their shoulders and improve their posture.  The pushup may well be the best exercise for women. Why? Regularly adding pushups to your workout won’t just strengthen your chest. It will also shape your shoulders, triceps, and glutes while toning and tightening your entire core. -Siddiqu/CF4L

#EucerinUS: Autumn Care Package

Posted by

October is already here and autumn is in full swing, and what does that mean?  It means colorful leaves, football, caramel apples – and colder temperatures.  Among other things, the season is often characterized as a time of frequent temperature changes between indoors and outdoors, and harsh winds. This results in more sensitive skin that can become dry, tight, itchy and irritated. So, before getting that Pumpkin Latte tomorrow, grab some Eucerin Smoothing Repair lotion to keep your skin glowing all season long!

This month we’d like to send you an “Autumn Care Package” on behalf of Eucerin.  This package includes Eucerin products that will help your skin, along with a couple special items to help remind you of all the lovely things that make this season so special.

Now that Eucerin has shared a few tips with you to keep your skin moisturized and sealed, let me share a few things with you to keep your skin looking amazing!

1.) Try to stay away from incredibly heavy foods and sugars. Keep that summer mindset when it comes to practicing healthy skin and body care. You want clear, fresh skin remember? That shouldn’t just be a seasonal thing. Pull on the fresh fruits and veggies and try roasting them!

2.) EXFOLIATE your skin at least once a week. We shed daily, so to care for the dead skin that is to come up as well as ushering in the new skin, be sure to “buff” it all out with a good sugar scrub or something that contains AHA.

3.) Water is and will forever be your friend. As it is cold, I for myself balance out 1.5 liters of water with about a 1.5 liters of green tea. I am not an avid coffee drinker, and because of how I would like to treat it, with cream and sugar, I can only think of the caloric intake. So, I always opt for green tea (which, if all natural, should contain 0 calories) and green tea is great after a cardio workout or even a good detox if your body is in need of it, especially after the turkey dinners or fresh mac and cheese in this coming season!

With all of that being said, you ready to enter?!

Origin of Essential Oils: Aromatherapy

Posted by

Essential oils originate from different parts of plants (flowers, leaves, roots, seeds, etc.) that have active
medicinal properties. These oils affect both your physical self and mental self and have the additional
benefit of smelling good! Essential oils are normally diluted in carrier oils to be absorbed via the skin or
through inhalation. Read more…

F&B: Going Green

Posted by

Saving money and energy is not the only way to “Go Green.” Try to think back when you were sitting in that boring biology class and the teacher was educating you on the properties of the plant. Does Chlorophyll ring a bell? If so, then great, but if not you will learn how this can help with your health. Our blood consists of hemoglobin, which helps rebuild and replenish the red blood cells. This process helps us with obtaining more energy and increasing our health. Chlorophyll is like hemoglobin’s twin. Their molecular structure is almost identical, which allows us to use this great molecule for consumption.

Chlorophyll has many benefits:

  • Improves the digestive, circulatory, immune, and detoxification systems to help cleanse the body, fight infection, and help heal wounds.
  • Reduces the amount of carcinogens that bind to DNA in the liver and other organs.
  • Acts as an anti-inflammatory because of the high levels of Vitamin A,C, and E.
  • Removes Mercury which can be toxic to the body.
  •  Treat bad breath because eliminates odors in the mouth and throat

I have tried this molecule in a glass of water, so don’t worry it is great! You can either buy it in a liquid form or focus more on eating more green veggies. One thing that surprised me is that it had a mint taste. Now go and enjoy!
